One witness stated that she feared it was a terrorist attack, and many others in the area also began to panic. However, the driver of the van told police that the floor mat got lodged on top of the gas pedal, which led to the accident.
The crash resulted in three individuals suffering injuries. They were reported as being two women and one man. The exact extent of their injuries was unclear, but it was mentioned that they were not considered life-threatening. At the time of the report, authorities did not suspect that alcohol was involved in the incident.
