Bicycles are quickly becoming an ever-increasing means of transportation, exercise and recreation in New York. A cyclist was recently critically injured in Brooklyn when he was struck and then run over by a semi truck. The accident occurred in Brooklyn on a recent Tuesday morning in October, officials said. The 35-year-old victim was mowed down around 7:15 a.m, New York City cops said.
Witnesses say both the truck and the bicycle were traveling the same direction on the street and collided when both made a right hand turn onto another street. They say the man was pinned underneath the truck after the collision. He suffered a severe head wound and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was in critical condition. Police were still in the midst of their investigation on Tuesday.
